Sustainable Construction Academy (SusCon)

Buildings are responsible for almost half of the UK’s carbon emissions and account for half of our water consumption, about a third of landfill waste and a quarter of all raw materials. For this reason, a sustainable approach to construction can help minimise waste and increase efficiency. It also means that new skills are needed at every level of the industry.

Based at Dartford in Kent, the Sustainable Institute for Sustainability - SusConConstruction Academy (SusCon) is a sustainable construction training centre that is pioneering new courses to help businesses make the transition to a low carbon economy.

As a strategic advisory partner, the Institute has played a key role throughout the programme, forging relationships with other organisations. The Institute is working with SusCon to help to connect local businesses with sustainable building opportunities and create skilled jobs, and is also utilising the SusCon building as a research and demonstrator site.
