Sustainable Utilities Infrastructure

The Lower Lea Valley is the largest remaining regeneration opportunity in London, and with investment in the Olympic Park, offers a unique opportunity to plan for and deliver a UK exemplar of integrated sustainable utilities infrastructure.

The Institute for Sustainability's Lower Lea Valley Sustainable Utilities Infrastructure project aimed to demonstrate the benefits of a systems approach to providing joined up energy, water, waste, transport and information networks as the foundation for whole community retrofit.

After scoping work for the project, a phase 1 Lower Lea Valley Sustainable Infrastructure report, funded by the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation, was produced that identified opportunities for more joined up delivery of sustainable infrastructure in the area.
