"Welcome to the Institute for Sustainability's latest e-newsletter" Peter Head Chair of the Institute for Sustainability Board of Trustees
The first quarter of the year has been another exciting and busy period for the Institute. The team has been working hard setting up and delivering new projects and continuing to secure new opportunities. As a result we have been recruiting for a number of posts to support our increased activity. If you are interested in finding out more about working with us, click here.
Projects added to the Institute portfolio since the last newsletter include a €9 million strategic transport and logistics project, which will ultimately help to improve the sustainability and competitiveness of the freight industry in the UK and the rest of North West Europe. The Institute team is leading the four year project and working with over 50 European partners and international stakeholders to share best practice and influence policy.
Other recent success includes funding approval for an innovative project designed to identify how ‘Cradle to Cradle’ principles could be applied to industry in Europe. The Institute will lead work in the UK focusing on how waste from one organisation can become a raw material or ‘food’ for another.
The Institute has also secured funding from the European Regional Development Fund to expand its programme to connect SMEs with cutting edge retrofit demonstration projects and emerging business opportunities. FLASH+ will provide support to SMEs in the South East of England, in addition to work already underway in London as part of the FLASH programme.
